Steven “SLY” Sylvester made his mark as a standout linebacker for the University of Utah from 2006 to 2010. A consistent force on the field, SLY started in 38 games, earned All-Conference recognition for three years, and was a two-time team captain. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the Utes to an unforgettable undefeated season in 2008, culminating in a victory over the University of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
SLY earned a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Mass Communication and Economics from the University of Utah. Following his successful college career, he was drafted in the 5th round of the NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for five years before a knee injury ended his career.
Now settled in Salt Lake City, SLY enjoys life with his wife, Whitney. Together, they share a love for cooking, watching movies, playing dominoes, and attending University of Utah sporting events.
To SLY, being a “Utah Man” is about passion, resilience, and loyalty. “It’s about Standing Tall in the face of Adversity, showing up for your community, and always taking pride in Utah Athletics—no matter the challenge.”
